Homework Blog #4
Well, I watched toe video on Plickers, and thought I'd give it a go in my Second Grade Class. It was less than successful, and my class had a very difficult time using the cards. I don't know if the percentage of Ell Children in my class contributed to the frustration, but the majority had a difficult time implementing their cards.
What I have been using successfully, is Show Me! I give the children a problem to work on independently and record their work. At the end of the day, I listen to the recording, and watch the video. It's fantastic! The kids get it, and manipulate it easily. Right now they are working on attributes of various polygons. It's been a great tool for this unit.
Then keep on using ShowMe. We use the tools we click with. And ShowMe can be an assessment piece, an instructional tool and a means to communicate with parents what is happening in the classroom.
